This dropped into my email inbox:

The EVUK team had the pleasure of attending the Octopus Energy Tech Summit on Monday, where our very own Quentin Willson took centre stage alongside Greg Jackson, Founder & CEO of Octopus Energy and motoring legend Damon Hill.

During the event, Greg announced the launch of a new Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) bundle, in partnership with BYD and Zaptec, bringing together:

🐬 A leased V2G-enabled BYD Dolphin

🔌 A Zaptec Pro home charger

⚡ Charging covered by Octopus Energy

For the first time ever, in-car charging technology will be deployed at scale for V2G in the UK, turning electric vehicles into mini power stations that support the grid, cut carbon, and help slash energy bills.

This ground breaking technology could help reduce wholesale electricity prices by up to 10% by 2030, while saving the average driver up to £620 a year compared to charging at home on a standard variable tariff.

Dan Caesar, CEO at EVUK “Octopus and BYD’s ingenious bidirectional tie up - an EV, plus charging and V2G in an affordable bundle - is the perfect example of how the electric vehicle offering will become increasingly irresistible over the coming months and years. As demonstrated in EVUK’s recent Cost of Driving Electric report, EVs are already cheaper and payment plans that potentially reduce charging costs to nothing, make them all the more appealing.”

Not seen all the specs and T&Cs but on paper it looks like a good deal. Not much info on the BYD site about discharge rates but they say the V2L on the Dolphin is rated at 3.3kW, you would hope the V2G is a higher rating

Although, many home batteries have 3kW inverters.

If it is a DC charger it might allow higher charge/discharge rates.

Edit: I've just looked up the Zaptec Pro and it is an AC charger from what I can tell. Can do three phase though.
