Octopus Tracker Tariff?

Hi,
We're on Octopus Go and already saving money. However, the tracker tariff looks tempting although obviously there's risk associated with it (due to max of 100p/kWh for electricity and 30p/kWh for Gas). Maybe we would be better to wait until we have a battery to spread the load.

Here's some historical data I found (for East Midlands region but they are all similar). What do people think?

The few times I've looked at it, because you don't get the cheap charging period, into which I lump as much as I can, it is always more expensive. Especially with having a car to charge...

You can easily find your own data to see how much you use on average and compare.

Although the cost is dropping now such that it might be worth me looking at once my 7.5p Go Faster expires in June.

I went on to gas tracker in January which turned out a good move as the tariff now (today 4.95p) is less than I was paying before the war. But I rad there is a 6 month waiting list for it now, so electric tracker could be the same.

Oh I had forgotten about the waiting lists. Hmmm... that's a harder decision as to what will be happening in 6 months time.

No harm in getting on the queue, you can always decline when your turn comes up.

I'm expecting to go onto Intelligent at the end of my Go Faster. I saw speculation that they might not be offering the Go tariffs for too much longer. I've got an OHME charger.

With the electricity price being determined solely by the cost of the most expensive fuel to generate it, and with that being gas, which is dropping (comparatively) like a stone in wholesale prices, I can't see electricity staying at it's current (haha) price for too much longer. The chart in the link below shows gas peaking around 26 August at 26.5p on Aug 26 last year. Today it is 3.95p. Same dates for electricity - 62.41p v 12.74p.
