I have an old OHME charger which I like as it worked well with the Octopus Agile tariff. Then it stopped working, around the time I replaced he MG5 PFL with the MG5 FL. It would get a spinning wheel and not connect, or on the few occasions when it did connect it would appear to take my updated requirements (e.g. 20% by 10am) then forget them and either charge right away, or not charge, and or would reset the charge parameters to whatever they were before.

So I called it into OHME who, considering the age of the unit, have been very good at providing assistance, albeit somewhat slow. The last thing was a firmware upgrade which appeared to fix the problem, but then it returned.

So today I couldn't get my setting to stick. I went into the iSmart app just t see something and it still seemed to be bound to the car - I thought I'd previously unbinded it because it kept preventing me charging beyond a certain percentage, and that change wouldn't stick either. So I unbound it, whereupon it aqwnt through a screen or two I don't recall from last time (i.e. maybe I hadn't done it after all) - and the OHME sprung back into life.

I hope it's not coincidence, but it might be. As the app was slow and only of very limited use to me I am going to leave it unbound and see what happens. But if anyone else has a problem with OHME scheduling it might be worth unbinding iSmart.

Of course the thing which has just crossed my mind is that the problem probably started around the time I changed the car - and the old pre-FL one doesn't have the app! Not being a very frequent charger means long periods between charges and plenty of opportunity to forget exactly what has happened and when!!

Well if it were better I might have kept it but that's already done. I did report to them last week the stuff about it keep changing the target, though maybe that is OHME related - maybe they just don't play well together.

So a couple of weeks ago I mailed iSmart support (customer care) and after a week got back a rather pointless reply saying thanks for getting in touch, they'd been monitoring my car which was OK now.

So I followed up with a fairly detailed description of what I'm seeing and asking if they could offer any tips on how to troubleshoot, as I have no way of knowing which app (iSmart or OHME) is causing the problem.

This is what I got back.

"Thank you for your email.

"We will continue to enhance our iSmart system.

"Should you have any suggestions or feedback regarding your vehicle or the iSMART service, we warmly welcome you to share them with us. Your opinion is highly valued and helps us continuously improve our products and support.

"Thank you once again for choosing MG. We look forward to continuing to serve you."

Customer care? Customer don't care I reckon :-)
