But what about new drivers who only learn with OPD? I thought reflexes required regular training.

Yes, reaction time could be the bigger component but the total will be longer with OPD.

But I'll stop now (no pun intended!), as I have no evidence to present.

OK I'll give you that. New drivers shouldn't use it for, (I don't know how long,)

I tend to look at things through my own experience, hadn't thought about new drivers.

What we need is for someone to find a nice empty bit of hill and trigger the vehicle into doing this but without stopping it while it is happening.
