I experienced an odd incident with the parking brake yesterday. While stopped at a 'lights-controlled' roundabout, for some unknown reason, I pressed the centre parking button instead of relying on auto-hold, as I usually do. This action disengaged the drive and, despite the frenzied cacaphony of horns blaring out, (why do they do that?), I couldn't engage Drive or Neutral. I switch the engine off and on and still failed to engage Drive. I still don't know how I eventually managed it, but thankfully I did, to the relief of the cars behind me. Any ideas or similar incidents from anyone? Aitch

Similar thing happened to me on a car park i forgot to hold the brake pedal done before pressing the start button i tried to select drive and reverse and it reverted to neutral not thinking logically i thought there was something up with the gearbox I switched the ignition off and realized what I had done

I would think all you had to do was to press the brake pedal, then select D, and you'd be on your way, but logic tends to go out the window in a panic situation with horns blaring all around you.
I agree, Clive. A bit of a panic, but I still don't know how I got it fixed.

This is what I think the various things that stop the engagement, (could be more) you will know them anyway, I think?. Steering wheel turned too far? lack of Pressure to brake? no seat belt on, driver door open. needless to say the last 2 would not account for your incident, and the pressure of the brake you will deffo know about, what about the steering wheel?
