Petrol cap

The petrol cap on my MG3 has been stiff to turn for a while now, but yesterday try as I might I couldn't relese it.
I asked a burly builder filling up next to me and he really struggled to undo it.
Has anyone else had this problem and any suggestions how to fix it.

I'm sure others must be having this problem. My wife is unable to undo the fuel cap filler, even I struggle. I have tried tightening it by one click and then undoing it, not sure this makes any difference. I am currently looking into modding some sort of lever/spanner device so my wife can undo the cap. I am told that the tank is pressurised to reduce fuel evaporation, I am sure this contributes to the problem. Has anyone resolved this? If you have please share.

Yes I have had trouble with this. I couldn't do it whilst at the petrol station, so had to go home and ask my partner to do it (who found it easy) and go back and fill up. Now I screw the petrol cap back, but stop before it clicks so it's easier to unscrew next time.

If you don't screw it on until it 'clicks' it's not on properly, and if it's not on properly you'll get some dangerous vapour leak, and possibly emissions fault etc.

I've had this issue with not being able to turn the cap. I've resolved the problem by putting some silicone oil around the rubber inside the cap. It works for me. And I always stop after one click when refitting the cap after fueling up.
