Phone call banner blocks screen

When making a phone call through the car infotainment (not Android Auto) the notification banner blocks the top third of the screen and makes it impossible to e.g. select menu settings, toggle some A/C settings, change nav options that are underneath it while the call is ongoing.

Is there a way to dismiss or minimise the banner while keeping the call active? At the moment if there's something I need to select I have to hang up the call, do what I need to do, and then call the other person back...

Yeah haven't found how to remove the banner but I switch off the A/C from the physical buttons
