Phone mutes MGS5

Thanks for the info regarding non-Galaxy phones.

The technician said that it will require a visit to an MG service/dealer, but once the update is available, it will be installed during the visit.

I’ll keep this thread updated if/when the update becomes available and if it actually fixes the issue.
Great thank you very much for your help!

"Put the infotainment system onto the phone" - PLEASE explain how to do that - many thanks
To get to the infotainment system on to the phone screen, just press the phone icon. That it really. If the screen changes while on a call, quickly change the screen to phone, otherwise the phone will cut out.

Hmmm. I had this problem today while I was making a 999 call, not ideal. As I was stopped (Actually parked), I pulled out the charging lead and turned off Bluetooth. That "fixed" the problem. My phone is a Samsung A35. That would tend to support the theory that the problem could lay with Samsung.

So why haven't MG put a recall notice out for this. Surely they should?

Yep, I also asked about the update’s availability from a local authorized service provider in Finland last Friday, and at that time it was not yet available here, so it may not have been rolled out to all locations yet.

Does this new software version change any of the version information visible to the user, as shown in this thread;

They have not. I asked the dealer to keep me updated when the fix came out. And they did.
I visited my dealer today and asked them about this. They were insisting that there is no such update available, at least not in a public form. The technician showed me the system they use to check if there is any new software available from MG, which did not show anything since April 2025. In the end he even called the MG/Norweigan Mobility Group and the response was there is no such update made available by MG. Could you please check what this update is called, and if it have any ID?

The authorised dealer contacted me today and confirmed that there is now a Front Infotainment Control Module (FICM) software update available for the car. I’ve booked an appointment to get it installed, so hopefully this will finally fix the annoying call muting issue where the other party suddenly can’t hear me anymore, while I can still hear them.

Any update on whether an software update is available yet for this issue? I phoned the MG garage last week and they didn't think one was available yet?

I found a solution for this issue that works for me (thanks to chatgpt). The microphone seems to be muted because of connection issues of the bluetooth hfp (hands free profile). This happens especially in combination with android auto. The MG infotainment seems to be quite outdated and can't handle the switches between different connection types which happen more often on newer bluetooth versions and on certain devices (i have a pixel 10). Temporary fix: enable dev settings on your phone (google how to enable it). In the system dev options there should be "Bluetooth AVRCP-Version". Switch that to Version 1.4. This is an older version which should work better. There is also another option "Deactivate Bluetooth A2DP-Hardware-Offload". Enable that one as well.
These changes in combination with "media audio" off in the bluetooth connection fixed the issue for me. Hope it will help some of you as well. Nevertheless MG should definetely work on their infotainment software.
