Hi everyone, I would be grateful for your advice.
We just had a service done and I was told that the pin top is missing on one pin in the charging port. Please see picture attached. The MG dealership has not been helpful so I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if it is an easy fix. Many thanks!

The charger port is covered by the MG 7 year warranty (according to Google). The tips or pins are user replaceable (if you can source the parts) rather than getting a whole new port. Some Hyundai and other cars have the same issue. I guess it's a commonly bought-in part from a third party manufacturer.

Edit: Stick 'pin top missing on ev charge point' (no quotes) into Google. Video about Ioniq not far down the list

It's very disappointing to hear that an MG Dealer has just serviced your car, highlighted a problem, but not offered any advice or solution. 👎
Thank you - their response has been you can't have the tiny plastic cover separately and will need to pay circa £700 for a complete new port and labour on top. They also said they need to do an investigation to see if it falls under warranty or not and if it doesn't then I am liable for all costs.

Stupid question have you checked your charge lead just incase it's stuck in it,
Yes, I checked but no luck.

Thank you for this! I will see if I can source the tiny plastic cover myself. MG dealership have not been helpful. Cheers

There's a new unit here on ebay for £300 > MG5 Charging Port.

See this Reddit discussion from 2 years ago on the Ioniq 5. There is a pic part way down with a part number. I wouldn't mind betting there is a high probability that (the physical) CCS2 charging sockets do not differ between car manufacturers and all come from but a handful of producers. It's absolutely crazy to change the whole unit for a plastic cap or two!
