Post a Pic

Spent morning frequenting a couple of childhood haunts.
Along with one that used to be reserved for ski resorts.

It seems there is serious concern about the falling water levels on the Rhein, when you see were the “normal” watermarks are, factor in just how big the bloody thing is, I reckon the plugs not in right. 😉

Conversely, when I was there in the year of the Elbe floods, I asked the hotel owner at Kripp how high they'd had the water come when the Rhine flooded. He indicated a level about half way up the wall on the first floor breakfast room. I noticed that the ground floor was mainly car park and some rooms with tiled floors and walls and just a few throw rugs. He pointed out that even on the first floor the chair cushions were all removable. The entire place was built to manage being flooded. And it wasn't right down on the bank either, nothing was, there was a wall and a road between the hotel and the river, under normal circumstances it was quite high above the water.

When we were in Koblenz yesterday are guide was talking us through previous floods and how far up they had come, scary Mother Mature is.

Holy Cother of Mod, I have discovered the joys of a German white burgundy and a fantastic view which I can order in my schoolboy German. Anything can happen in the next half hour, please Cod don’t let me go all Caberet and start singing “Tomorrow belongs to Me” 😱

Crap I’ve gone all Troy Tempest.

The Mem has just informed that while she’s impressed with my schoolboy German, when using it I’m channeling Lt Gruber from Allo allo. Fecks sake. 😱
