We purchased an MG5 Trophy on a PCP deal in 2023. I also purchased a maintenance contract to cover the 4 years of the PCP. I was contacted by the supplying group at the end of year one and recently at the end of year two to book car in for a service under the contract maintenance. I was told that my supplying dealer no longer had the contract with MG but another dealer within the same group could do the service etc, the downside is and extra 50 miles each way. My car was booked in and the service work done.
On returning home, I noted on the back of the service paperwork in the notes section:-
"Technician has no access to MG/SAIC software or programming"
"Technician not MG certified"
Obviously no software updates were done which were done before.
This absolutely floored me. It looks like loads of jobs on the Maintenance Checklist have not been done even though it seems to be flagged on the work to be done. More importantly I fear we may now have voided the MG warranty by non certified technicians doing the work and the service not fully done. The PCP T&C's makes it abundantly clear that I'm responsible for servicing the car in compliance with BG T&C's. The fact that this hasnt been done it is suggested it will seriously affect the "Guaranteed Minimum Value" understandably so.
I have made a formal complaint to the dealer group concerned and also will be exploring Ombudsman / Trading standards if necessary.
Your thoughts?
