We have a 71 plate MG5.
3 months ago it broke down in the middle of a drive. We had to be recovered to a local ev specialist who couldn't find a fault without stripping the battery amd suggested a warranty investigation at dealership.
So we transported the car to our nearest one 90 min away.
10 weeks in and no answers I send a concerned email and within a week the battery has been looked at we have a answer.
Not covered on warranty, HV battery fault. All cells damaged, caused by damage to underside of the car and water being let in.
We are unaware of any damage and have been sent photos which I can't quite work out.
We have been presented with a quote for repair at almost £26k plus vat.
We purchased the car for £23k as an ex demo .

Does anyone have any ideas on a way forward to question warranty as I feel a car should be made to withstand being driven on roads ??
We have car on finance and still owe a big chunk also.
Thanks if you have got this far !

Pop one of these in it.
I love your use of the word 'pop' :)

That doesn't sound good. Sounds similar fault / denial of claim as detailed in this thread about water ingress into ZS HV battery... (I'll link to the summary on page 11 to save you reading it all)

Not how I thought today was going to pan out...

Further thought - if MG say it is accident damage then surely you need to make a claim on your insurance? If the insurers deny it is accident damage then should be covered under warranty if you are within mileage limits and have up-to-date service history?
