I have my radio set to DAB and my preferred radio station (Boom Radio) is preset.

However, whenever I get into the car it resets to FM Radio 2!

How do I stop this please?

That’s strange 🤷🏻.
Our car appears to remember what station we was playing, when we last powered down the car.
The station we prefer is saved as a favourite ❤️ in the menu, not sure if this makes a difference 🤷🏻 tbh.
Strange that the radio dies not automatically start playing the station on boot up, you have to press either PLAY on the info screen, or press the large square button on the R/H side of the steering wheel, in order to get the radio to start playing the selected station.

Turning on automatically is like my wife's MG4, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it turns on a couple of miles into a trip. Interesting about the ❤️. I'll have to have a look. I thought that just bunched the stations I prefer together.

It probably does Graham, but worth a go at least 🤷🏻.

I noticed the same thing. I thought it was just switching from DAB to fallback FM every time, but Boom Radio isn't on FM. Looks like a bug.

I wish there was a way you could report these problems to MG.

You could email customer services at [email protected] They will probably say to report it to your dealer but at least you've tried and hopefully it will be reported back to the appropriate section.

Agreed.
@Rei Maybe take a short video the issue and then you can uploaded it to MG CS and send it to the dealer ?.
Once they have witnessed the problem in progress, then could submit a "ticket" to MG and they can advise on a course of action.

I think that the S5's threshold for deciding that the DAB signal is too weak is a bit too aggressive and it will often fall back to FM when it probably could stay with DAB - it doesn't seem very tolerant of a low DAB signal. Saying that, it seems very reluctant to then switch back to DAB when the signal improves. Definitely feels like something that could be improved via software update?

Agreed, it gives up on DAB too easily and I've never seen it switch back. My old Leaf would drop out for a few moments in one spot but otherwise stay on DAB for the whole journey on the same route where the S5 gives up early on and never tries again.

I have exactly the same problem, except that it switches to an awful rock station near the bottom of the spectrum.

Presumably it's not one of your favourites. For me it always at least goes back to the one I usually listen to.

To be fair, I don't think I have any favourites on FM. Maybe setting R4 as one would at least stop the awful racket.

Yup! I had too many favourites. Having cut my selection down to one it goes straight to that DAB channel.

I was going to post this issue, but found this old thread.

I get exactly the same. I'm listening to DAB (usually Times Radio or Radio 4) and the display suddenly switches to the FM display, but audio stays on the same channel. If it's radio 4 then it switches to FM Radio 4 frequency but if it's on Times Radio (which isn't on FM) it shows some random FM frequency but continues playing Times Radio. And it never switches back to DAB. It's very annoying.

I had this until last weekends DATA issues with server. However since doing numerous soft resets over the weekend and the server being sorted since Monday my Radio has stayed on DAB?? So not sure if connected. Try turning of all cnnections to DATA, WiFi, Bluetooth etc by pulling down home screen. Then press and hold home button until screen goes off. Release and wait for screen to normalise and switch back on all above? Might solve the Radio issue? Worth a try as mine has defo been fine since.
