Hi all,

I noticed last night than my inner off side rear light cluster isn’t working at all.

Does anyone know if each individual rear cluster runs off a separate fuse? (Bear in mind there are 4 - two on the boot lid and two on the main car body). Or do we think this is a MG job?

The car is under 3 years old so hopefully is covered under warranty and not subject to one of MGs multitude of warranty exclusions!

If the lights on the left work, it must be the right one probably has a faulty plug as I reckon they would both work from the same wires running into the rear door. From memory the outer lights also include the indicators, the inner lights have tale & brake lights plus the reversing lights and probably loop down to the left and then loop across to the RHS.

The interior panel should pop off the same as the door trims do so use one of the plastic panel removal tools to pop out the plastic clips.

Thanks, I’ll have a quick look to see if there’s anything obvious before going down the main dealer route. Bulbs are only covered for the first 12 months but I assume there’s more than 1 bulb in that unit which would suggest the whole unit isn’t working rather than a bulb so that should be covered.

Ok thanks, I mean even if they’re LEDs then they’re bulbs, but if there’s more than one in the cluster then it’s not a bulb issue.

I just know what MG are like, they’ll do anything to get out of honouring warranty work.

I don’t think the rear lights are fused ?.
I can’t see any mention of them in the fuse box lay out in the manual.
Both the front head lights have an independent fuse covering each side.
On the Gen1 version, there is access to the inner tail gate clusters via a flip out panel on each side of the boot trim panel.
Both of the outer clusters can be accessed by removing the clusters.
If the whole cluster is out, then it’s unlikely all of the lamps / bulbs have failed at the same time.
You would have to suspect either the loom feeding the cluster ( could have become detached with the slamming of the hatch ).
You could use a bolt meter to see if any power is reaching the cluster.
Here is short video shown how to access both sets of clusters.
