Does the recommendation to charge to 80% to preserve battery life only apply to rapid charging or should you do it on AC as well ?
I'm not one to follow this religiously because I don't keep my cars very long, only 3 or 4 years.
But I was thinking, should my next one be the last new one I buy, maybe I should.
Yes, because the root of the problem has nothing to do with AC or DC. The issue is that
extreme charge/discharge cycles are bad for all lithium-ion batteries (the kind of batteries used in EVs but also laptops and phones).
So the problem is that charging batteries to full and using them up all the way down to 0 has a negative impact on your battery's storage capacity. (Source)
