The end caps are on springs. Just slide one of the caps towards the middle of the car and that end of the bar will lift out of the pocket. You can do it from either side.

Slip the back seat forward clear of it’s catch and grip the end where the arrow is on the photo and slide the whole thing in that direction.
Now - your task, if you’ll accept the challenge, is to help all us folks who’ve dismantled our cars trying to remember how it came out - - -
Others have answered this but make sure before doing anything that you free the shelf from the slot it slides in by pulling back slightly then lifting it up to release it from the slot (notice the openings in the slot to allow this). Then you can pull back on the spring loaded ends. Good luck.
It's really quite hard to move them. I found it easier to get to them by dropping the back seats a little, you can get a stronger grip on the sliders
It does if the floor is in the raised position (Not sure if you have to have the exclusive to have that option?)
I do this occasionally to fit in my bike, back seats down, when I have to take my MG5 for a service - just a shame there isn't a little bit more room in the car!
Pull REALLY hard and order a replacement. ?
