MG5 pre-FL - removing the tailgate trim.

Hi all,

I've just had to contend with the tailgate trim (the interior plastic panel) on my car to replace the number plate bulb on a pre-FL MG5 LR. The manual was pretty useless on this, so I've put together a quick guide to removing the tailgate panel (I couldn't find a good one elsewhere? Maybe my Google-fu wasn't good enough).

Hope that's useful to someone some day - if any other job comes up, I'll try and do more posts then.

I used your guide in 2023 and again, just now, in July 2025. I have re-discovered that gloves are a useful accessory to protect knuckle when pulling the trim off the tailgate Thanks again
