I've done over 30,000kms now and am thinking about what tyres to replace the original Bridgestone Turanza T005 that our "Long Range 77" (aka Trophy ER) came with.

My primary concern is energy efficiency. This is our "long distance trips" car and so distance on a charge is the key metric.

Yes I want decent handling/braking/et al but the key metric I'm after is distance on a charge.

Given we're in Australia I'm really not interested in "cold" weather performance. We don't get a lot of snow & ice here and I just don't go to the Ski Fields here any more.

Looking at all the reviews I have found it does appear that the Turanza is the most efficient and so at this stage that's what I'm going to get but if anyone has some thoughts, please share them.

The other tyres I'm considering are the: -

Hankook Ventus S1 AS H125
Continental eContact
Pirelli P Zero™ E

A few things to keep in mind;

The Turanza comes with less thread from the factory (only 6mm instead of the more standard 8). And there’s a chance you get charged more on the retail side of things because it is an OE fitment tyre. Bridgestone would’ve sold them extremely cheaply to MG, hoping people will just replace like for like, and that’s where they recoup that initial hit. It almost always paid off looking at a different brand when I sold tyres a few years ago.

I’m not really across all that is available now, but Toyo, Kumho, and Falken always had good quality for reasonable cost. Personally I’m thinking of Pirelli but that is because they do a run-flat in the factory size.
