Roof bars discoloration

Hi all

I picked up my MG ZS EV this week. 2023 model with 6K on the clock. Has anyone experienced this with their roof bars, it arrived like this? Is there a fix?

My roof bars and the trim down the doors looks similar if I don’t dry them with a micro fibre cloth after washing them. I presume in my case it’s because my water is very hard so the mineral deposits stick very well.

P.S. The rain doesn’t fix it either, not that we’ve had any for a while.

More like that shite, they spray on. At those scratch and wash centres.

This looks a lot like the same that happens on Tesla's. chrome.

I think the general advice there is to spray a bit of WD40 on a cloth or paper towel and rub it with that.

I looked at mine up close and can see a bit of the same discoloration pattern but nothing that I noticed before and nothing that really bothers me

Try on a small area somewhere not noticeable first, just to be on the safe side

Update to the WD40 suggestion. It’s a lot better so thank you, I’ll keep working on it as it may go away over time.

Don't think WD40 will do owt. But by all means give it a go. Had it on my Merc. Tried everything, never did shift it. Solvol Autosol made it a bit better. It's made worse by these Wash and Scratch hand car washes. With the caustic shite they spray on.

WD40 will mask it a bit. Until you next wash it, that's all. It's anodized not chrome. Goes milky like that. And looks unsightly. Look up that Hindsight stuff,
from More than Polish.

Let us know how you get on with it. Use it sparingly. The pots are very small.
