I have bought some second hand thule bars. Can confirm the clamps for a mk6 golf don't fit the MG5.

Next step is to visit a used car showroom with some measurements from my car. Must be something close enough to fit. Will report back once I have found something that fits.

Astra estate? Think the MG5 is derived from an Astra estate although no idea which generation.

My last car was an astra estate. It had integrated rood rails so definitely not that.
