Ordered an S6 and desperately not in love with the look of the rims with the aerocovers on.
Anyone removed it so far?

Welcome.

The covers are inserts which bolt to mounting points which are part of the alloy wheels, they can be removed but it means taking off each wheel from the car and afterwards you’ll have the mounting points visible which IMPO would look even worse.

I have the LR and personally rather like the inserts, taking into account they are there to improve airflow and improve range (nominally I’d say) , and that you can still access the barrels for cleaning you might want to think about it.

Enjoy the ride.

Thanks, I think you absolutely nailed it. the mounting points something to think about for sure, a little disappointed though, really not a fan of the S6 rims's looks

Not seen a picture of the S6 wheel with cover removed, but have seen one of the IM5, not the same wheel of course but from the same stable so I think will be similar. Dealer confirmed they were bolted on, had a customer asked for them to be removed before collection, they did the first of the wheels, rang him, he came down to see and told them to put them back apparently.

Of course if you really can't live with them either off or on, you could get a set of aftermarket wheels, @Micropop who needs to run winter and summer tyres coming from Norway got a spare set when he collected his with winter tyres fitted so they are available, mind you would be close to a grand even for a "budget" set.

PS. What colour you going for?

I can’t change the rim for 5 years as that would affect the warranty relating to the wheels (silly I know). Colour is by far the easier part of the decision making process. Silver!

You may want to talk to @Micropop 😉 ... Also, If you prefer S6 SE smaller wheels, I'm sure dealers or other SE owners would be very happy to swap them with you for free as they are more expensive ...

Alternative is to spray yours in black to mask the chrome lines, that might work?

Now that look like proper rims! There's apparently only 1 option imported into Singapore, where I stay no options or changes whatsoever. The car has 5 years warranty here and the answer to one of my 1st questions was that changing the rims would void immediately some warranty relating to the wheel. Should there be any fault they can link (remotely) to the rim change, im sure they would then.

Yes, that's true, especially if you use non-MG wheels and they cause some damage... not worth the risk. I personally wouldn't bother much... You can always paint them all black, it would look good against silver... personally: silver car (I was keen on that too!) and the original wheels as they are will look cool !

Which ones are you getting No1 (this is what we get on top model in the UK and I quite like them as they are) or No2 or something else ?

No.1

No 2.

I see, I won’t take the risk, certainly not for a car I haven’t picked up yet. To answer your question : No.1 on a silver paint job with all the bells and whistles, HUD, panaromic glass roof etc. since this is the only SKU so to speak they don’t call it the “trophy” trim here just the S6

That's just utter bollocks. Everyone here in Scandinavia pretty much has to have 2 sets of wheels. Most will get 2 sets of "original" rims, but dealer here let me choose between a few options, and I went with a set of all black from OZ. As long as the rims are the same in terms of bolt circle diameter, offset, load capacity and size, it makes no difference, and certainly should not affect warrenty! There was a set of similar looking rims that was called something with MG in the name, probably made for MG, so there are other rims available.

There's a certain lvl of inmaturity and abuse, industry wide in this country, thats for sure. On the upside, something to look forward to 5 years down the line. At least thats what im telling myself
