I managed to install a SAIC2MQTT bridge as Docker container on my Synology NAS and can now read and write on my smart home system. I also enabled the data feed of the current location to my Traccar server and can view the position of my Cyberster on the map.

If you have a NAS with Docker support check out my tutorial here.

It took me a few days to figure everything out, so I thought, this helps others.

I really understand you. I'm a decent web programmer but don't know, how to compile Docker images on my own. Docker images are capsuled programs, which run on a server, computer or network attached storage (NAS) like my Synology.

If you find something which sounds pretty cool, you still need to install and configure it. And that's the tricky part for me. Sometimes it's easy and sometimes quite hard. Other times, I don't succeed.

My smart home runs on the standard KNX. For things, which are not KNX, I use MQTT, which is an old efficient machine to machine protocol. Devices write "topics" to a MQTT broker, which stores them. Other devices can read these topics. My smart home system reads e.g. the SoC of my MG Cyberster and displays it on my Smart Home panel. One can also write to the MG Cyberster via this bridge, so I can e.g. open the car or its doors from my computer's keyboard.
