Sandicliffe MG Lincoln - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

My recent experience of this dealership. When my ZS EV went to Sandicliffe Lincoln for a ‘service’, it was found to have a broken rear coil spring, so couldn’t pass its first MOT, in the end I couldn’t use the vehicle for a month. This is not a review of MGs parts unavailability - which the dealer can’t really do much about.

But they stated they would send me a video of the condition of the car - they didn’t. They said they’d send me a health report on the car - they didn’t. They said they’d call me within the hour to update me about the spring - they didn’t. Contacting the dealership by phone is a nightmare. They just don’t answer it. They don’t even answer it to the Groups own customer service representative who attempted to get an update from them.

The spring finally comes into stock, booked in for it to be fitted and to get it MOTd. They said they’d send me a text message to confirm the booking - they didn’t, so I had to try and call again to actually make sure the booking had been made.

A tip to the people working there - if you’re not doing to do the things you say you are, don’t say them in the first place. Customer expectations based on the information YOU have given them are real.

Overall, I won’t be going back, next time I’ll try one of the few remaining independents left in my area instead.

Oh and on the MOT, they claim 3 of the tyres a close to the legal limit - despite the previous [failed] MOT, <60 miles before, not mentioning anything about tyres. Something like tyres cannot be an opinion thing - they either are or they are not, close to the legal limit. Just been out to measure them: 3mm left on offside front, 3.7mm left on near side front, 4mm left on near side rear. (Offside rear is a new tyre, unrelated to any of this work)

So make of that what you will, dear reader. And choose wisely who you trust to work on your vehicle.

And for those naysayers who would accuse me of just trying to badmouth a hard working and honest dealer, here be the proof.
