Hi,
First posting!
I picked up my black S5 on Saturday but not driven it yet so it's too soon to post a review.
I've gone through the numerous set up menus without a problem except that the screen brightness is very dark. Makes the navigation screen almost unreadable. I tried to lighten it using the menu options by swiping down from the top of the screen but it doesn't seem to have an effect.
Is there a day/night time mode setting somewhere that I've missed? Or any other suggestion?
Cheers....

I've noticed the same - on my old MG5, it had an automatic setting where it switched into dark mode when the auto-headlights went on and that feature is sorely missed on the new MGS5. Perhaps MG will issue a software fix to add it?

There's a choice between light/dark themes available, and you can also independently set the brightness of the infotainment screen (swipe down from the top works well for me) and the cluster.

My only complaint is the cluster on max brightness still isn't very bright. I am pondering if a cowl would help, but shouldn't have to.

Thanks for the reply. Please can you tell me where to select the light/dark themes. I've searched high and low!

I found the infotainment screen brightness slider on the swipe down changes the actual screen brightness but the navigation map brightness appears unaffected.

BTW, Google Maps appear at their normal brightness. Maybe the answer is to stick with that.

Under Settings on the General tab, just below Cluster Brightness, it's called System Theme.

I havent had an issue with the built-in nav brightness.

drove the car at night for the first time and the screen was sooo bright. Managed to change it to dark mode but surely I won’t need to do this every time. I thought the screen would change automatically depending on day/night time driving.

From the usual home screen, 'themes' for dark or light overall are accessible by swiping left bringing up a second home screen. 'brightness' settings are accessed by swiping down. In my opinion the dark is too dark making the nav screen illegible regardless of brightness setting. The brightness setting doesnt seem to make a lot of difference on the 'light' setting. What is really at fault is the poor contrast especially in the nav screen - contrast is not adjustable.
Great car but new software seems to have introduced bugs compared with the original ZS software.

Go into the settings screen, adjust your preferred brightness for daytime. Switch on the headlights, then adjust brightness for night time. Now when the lights come on you should have a dimmer screen.
