Well that's something, I,ll still stick with the two first words of #35. Not many ,if any garages in France , private or main dealer carry stock apart from generic windscreen wipers. All parts will come from motor factor enterprises on 24 hr or less delivery. For niche markets, and especially new models of any kind, MG included ,who won't supply parts to the private stockists for general distribution preferring to keep all the profits in house, means that the hopeful and once trusting customer is once again hamstrung by delays in repairs . The diagnostics and subsequent bickering about who pays what is down to the money men who don't care how long the decisions take if they can reduce their share of the costs. It's the diagnostics and availability of the courtesy cars which have taken so long. The part, once MG had agreed that it needs replacing, took 2 weeks to arrive in stock.
As a lot of people lease so they can have a new car every 3 years this trend will continue with each new model suffering the same consequences . As parts for older models then filter through to the private market and independent garages gain access to previously restricted diagnostic information then the repair times could come down for those wanting to continue with a " obsolete " car.
Most likely was ," always was " but with the advent of EVs needing specialist diagnostics and new and exotic parts all which need mapping to individual vehicles ( why ? ) it then gives the main dealers and manufactures a stranglehold on the repair market , one which they will be reluctant to let go.
