Hi Has anyone managed to install a second meter from Octopus energy just to charge the car, I am asking as I have a heat-pump and currently have the Octopus Cozy tariff which costs 14p/kW so my transport costs have effectively doubled, I know I may have to pay double standing charge?

With my Ohme charger octopus know how much the car takes. But if they can give you two tarriffs I have no idea.

I don't think you can have multiple meters and therefore tariffs unless it's a multi-occupancy home subdivided such that each part might be classed as a separate dwelling.

I would think they would charge you to put in a new grid connection, and you'd end up paying two standing charges, as you note.

Tariffs will come and go and so making any expensive decisions based on current tariff options might be a bit rash.

14p doesn't sound bad to me for car charging. Still much cheaper than petrol.

The other option is to use an EV tariff and get a big enough home battery to cover your heat pump usage most of the time. I expected to switch to Cosy for the winter with our heat pump but I haven't bothered as the battery lasts most of the day, with a little top-up from the solar.
