Servicing Costs for MG EV ZS Trophy

For servicing of your EV, I would highly recommend Cleevly

They have a mobile service capability.

Nice and how much did it cost you through them for your service?
Did they do any software updates?
Do they offer brake down cover in the price?

Your prices are too high. My Peugeot was £60 for small service and £110 for full service. But I agree on the rest that cost should never be higher than that of regular car. 1st year service can't possibly be more than hooking it to computer and quick visual check that everything is working fine.

According to MG website during first service there is no need to even do pollen filter or break fluids those happen every other year at larger service. Coolant is only replaced at year 5.
The dealer i bought the car from said that part of the yearly service was also to update the different computers in the car.

To be honest, that sounded a bit like a scam to me...Not because i dont think they improve the software, but honestly, do i really have to pay them to fix bugs in the software.

I mean, if there was a faulty part in the brakes, they would certainly have to replace that part free of charge, as it was a defective or sub-standard part, why is it, when they fix a faulty or sub-standard piece of software that can be every bit as dangerous to drive with, then i suddenly have to pay for the upgrade.

I never pay to have bugfixes made to the software in my computer, my mobile phone, my robot-vacuum cleaner, my heatin control, my light control, my electric window blinds, my flatscreen tv, my garmin satnav, my solar panel inverter and so on, and so forth.

To be honest, i bet when we get to the 1 year mark, and they want me to have it serviced, they are probably going to charge me atleast £200 because they need and extra hour or 2 to update the computers onboard to squash their own bugs.

The software upgrades is probably going to be the joker here.

Lets just hope that the "OTA update of infotainment" was not just a sales gimmick and every software update miraculously needs to be done at the dealer anyway at a cost.

Surely that's the point of a service plan no unexpected bills?
Does not prevent unexpected bills.

Tyres worn down, tyre puncture and so on.

I get, that it is sort of an insurance, where you pay monthly, but atleast in the case of the service plan in Denmark, it is a lot more expensive that i (hope) the car would ever need....Out of warranty.

I would expect it to be VERY unlikely that the car would have any defects that were not either covered by the warrany or my insurance in the first 2 years for example.

I have a petrol Peugeot 208, and my 5 year service plan (so 3 MOTs) came to just over £1k (16.99 pcm), but that was main dealer servicing. Are diesels cheaper to service than petrol?

Very good points :)

Mine not due for its first service for some time yet.

When the time comes I will ask them.

AA cover doesn’t bother me, being with the Royal Automobile Club.

We've just been sent a proposed service plan for our MG ZS Trophy and I wanted to know if it sounds reasonable to you all as this is the first electric car we've owned and can't really compare to previous ICE servicing.

The four year plan with 2 MOT's is coming up as £554.

Does that sound reasonable? It's from our MG dealer rather than MG directly
You can now get a low mileage service ie under 10000 miles for roughly half price. May work ot cheaper then a service plan for some people.

How can you recommend someone if you haven't used them for an EV service?

It is a charge for the disposal of certain items, such as tyres, oils etc.

First service on the MG unless doing over 15k miles is just an inspection... double the price im paying seems a bit steep
