Everyone has been very helpful with my queries and I've had many since only having car 1 month today,
If I don't use MG dealer to service vehicle does it affect the warrantee also, we do little millage so should the servicing be 6 monthly or 12 months?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. regards RTB

Probably best to use MG for service as it will extend your breakdown cover after service . Though you can use MG approved garages if you wish .
Once a year should be OK for low mileage depending on what you mean by low mileage

Thank you for your reply 10000 miles at the very most. What do you think of service plans?

MG did have a low mileage plan for under 10K not sure if they still do it.
As above you will get another 12 AA MG assistance cover if you use MG dealer

They should be cheaper but overall I mostly get a Service Plan especially if you can pay in instalments . You shouldn't miss £10 or so a month over 3 or 4 years , far better than getting a £300 service bill .
If you go to the service plan route , set it up with the dealer rather than MG direct , To expand on that , if you change your car at the same dealer it will transfer the balance to the new car at least with my dealer .

Sorry but don't understand this!

After every MG service the AA Assistance ( Effectively breakdown and Recovery ) cover is renewed for a year . Don't think that will happen with an independent dealer

I asked MG about using 3rd party servicing, as that's my preference (and I did take out my own breakdown cover). They say it is perfectly possible:

"You are welcome to have your vehicle serviced at an independent garage should you desire.

If a service does take place at an independent garage, then this service cannot be added to the Digital Service Records.

Only MG Dealerships can access this system and so any service carried out outside of the network needs to be accompanied by a detailed invoice showing:-

Name and address of supplier
Date of service
Mileage at service
Details of which service is taking place
Parts and part numbers of anything changed during the service (must be genuine MG parts)
Manufacturer and grade of oil or coolant used during the service (must be genuine MG parts)

You will be required to keep this invoice safe as it may need to be presented to a dealership as evidence of servicing in the future."

This is good news, thank you. Regards RTB

But! If you service with MG garages, you get free annual AA cover (check separate price for it), and even more importantly, likely to drive down the price if you decide to sell the car. Between the 2 choices, I would go for MG serviced car. Also, service plan over say 4 years turns out to be ridiculously cheap as it locks today's price over 4 years and you pay in monthly installments...

Thank you good points!
