Ok, ive been to two different mg dealerships in search of an IM6 to get a look around. the first one I went twice, second one once.

in both instances the branch manager has been using the single IM6 they have as their personal vehicle, and its not been available because they arent working that day.

is this common? seems to me that if they only have one, it should be available at all times that the dealership is open.

Welcome to the forum. Not uncommon anywhere around this side of the planet.
Most of the showroom models I've see look great at a distance, but up close, you can see how many miles they have on the clock ..... or did you mean to cars?

Hi, I mean is it common for the manager to be taking the car home instead of leaving it in the showroom where potential customers can look at it? I'm in the UK for reference.
Yes, I would think it is. I always book an appointment to see cars.

I'd expect to book an appointment for a test drive, but just to look around and sit inside? Never had this problem before.
If you want to look at a car why would you just expect it to be there? It may be on a test drive, being worked on, away for the day…..

well firstly, because that's been the case for all the other cars I've looked at so far, and in the past. Secondly, I explicity asked them if I need to make an appointment and was told I didn't.

Well if you asked them they should d have told you it may not be there….

Yes, common over here as well. I worked at a dealership (Ford) where the head cocky wouldn't even let people test drive his car .... he was very selective of who he would take for a drive in his long body 2 door Landau, even though it was a demo on the company floor plan.
I think it was 12 mths old before he let it return to the car pool because the latest model had been delivered .... makes you wonder why they went belly up eh
