My new car now looks like a battered old wreck, so I don't need to worry any more.

Sorry to hear that. Do you have a dash cam? Can report people like that and potentially claim off their insurance.

Down here we call it the "Devon Rash", the scratches cars get down their left hand side from all the lane hedges.

A similar thing happened to me in Cornwall in my previous car, when a minibus forced me into the hedge.

Luckily it did polish out with one of those Meguiars polishing kits that attaches to a cordless drill.

And anyway, the grandchildren have put muddy shoes all over the backs of the front seats, so I may have to get rid of it anyway

Question, is mine the only one not having a pull off cover on the slow charging socket? It has a secondary pull off cover on the ccs socket below the big one. ??????

Our Niro has it, like the older MG EV it has a front charge port so perhaps its because there is more chance of water getting in?

I'd get rid of the grandchildren . OK perhaps a little drastic but a shoe removal rule would be applied and as for the hedge rash it'd drive me nuts.

Yes I know it's only a car but it's my car but it has to look good despite having two greyhounds in the back but they have a full boot liner to contain their efforts at mud importation.

And yes I know I'm a little OCD about it as the amount of equipment and cleaning and polishing liquids I have will testify.
