Software update

I haven't heard of any. It took nearly a year for the first updates for the MG4 but hopefully MG have learned from that and will release updates sooner.

Just out of interest what software issues have you had?

I have not heard of any issues serious enough to warrant an early upgrade. A few annoyances like not being able to set the map colours separately from the media screen.

My biggest beef is radio management. How the radio behaves at startup is apparently random, at its worst giving me very loud rock music from somewhere near the bottom of the FM spectrum.

Also, the whole radio UI is pants.

A tiny thing I'd like changed would be to put the ApplePlay icon on the right of the screen for RHD cars.

But generally the software works.

Mine is in the dealer today and tomorrow being updated with all available updates I have been told. Will feedback what they say when I collect it tomorrow. I hope at least the infotainment gets R25 from R22 and it fixes apple car play connection issues. I also hope they manage to find an update for auto headlights turn off as this doesn’t work imho.

Is this service chargeable?
No because I kicked off about the fact it wasn’t done as part of PDI, the tyre pressures were all wrong, ceramic coating poorly applied and other things. They have it for 2 days for some reason but I know it sat there this morning from 8:30am - 2pm locked as I kept checking. It seems something is happening now as mg smart reporting no vehicle response.

Tim - Does your radio commence playing your favourite station on boot up, you do you have to press the play button each time ?.
Mine is like this - I boot up the car, then have to to press the play button on the info screen, or press the centre square button on the R/H side of the steering wheel.
Then it starts playing the station.

It's pretty random. It usually plays nothing, sometimes plays what I can only assume is the lowest most station on FM, a ghastly rock station, and sometimes the DAB station I left it on.

I can find no pattern. It's certainly not dependent on how I left it when I switched off.

Well, update from dealer tonight. They have had to put a call into MG and could I keep the courtesy car until Thursday or possibly Friday! Doesn’t sound good to me. The car in the meantime is no longer responding to MGSmart requests.

Yup! Much the same here, DAB reception is especially poor compared with my recent cars.
Also, has anyone found a way of linking the 'Favourites' station list to the right hand joystick? I have 5 favourite stations stored but still have to scroll through every damn station to select between them without going through the infotainment screen.

This is how mine behaves. But maybe 25% of the time it starts playing without any intervention. The rest of the time I have to press play or the centre button.

It always goes back to the last station I listened to, no problems there.

My previous ZS EV would always automatically start playing the radio station we where previously listening too on boot up, all of the time.
But however, when the car received its latest update, it then became the same !.
You had to press the “Play” button on the dash each time you booted up the car, before you received any music ?.
Only about 10% of the time, it would automatically start playing the station.
So I guess, in a way, I am use to it 🤣.
Is this the latest train of thought now I wonder ?.
Program it this way, set it to give the driver the opportunity to decide IF they want the music to play or not ?.
If YES then hit the play button or the square button on the RH side of the steering wheel, otherwise the unit waits for the command to play by the driver ?.
It’s just another thing to go through on start up 🥴 though.
Get in, boot up the car, then swipe down on the screen, then hit the MG Custom mode to select your personal preferences, then another swipe / button press to alter the level of re-gen you require above the preselected LOW, then hit the play button to get your radio station to play music etc before finally starting your journey !.
Wow…… it’s a bit like rubbing your tummy while rubbing your head at the same time !.
What a load of malarkey !.
