Speech recognition

Hi I purchsed my mg4 new august 25 the speech recognition has never worked, it's now been with the dealer 16days. The dealer has told me that they had to fit new infotainment module, now they're telling me the speech recognition only works when android auto is connected but this only controls google etc but does not control commands for the car.
What to do this is obviously incorrect!!

The simple test, just sit in another MG4 with the person spouting BS and show them how it is supposed to work. Then tell them you are returning the car they sold you as it is obviously not fit for purpose.

That's expected behaviour for an SE, but assuming you have a trophy or X power something is definitely wrong.

My car is an excite which is the base model, I spent all day waiting for my car to be fixed and at 17.00 they said they were having problems, so they gave me a courtesy car to use that was 17 days ago.
The dealer called me Friday and said my car was ready. Software not updated, heating not fixed, told me had to use Android auto for speech recognition to work.(Totally BS) Looks like I'm in for a battle when I call them tomorrow!!

Excite = basic = NO voice control. (i.e. No Hello MG). It doesn't work because it isn't supposed to work! (The base model doesn't have voice control in the specification. Your dealer is correct (on that point)).

According to the 25 specification it does have speech recognition why would the dealer try to fix it under warranty.

That must be new then ... it's the first I've heard of the base spec car supporting voice commands.

Just looked at the website and brochure, it doesn't mention voice control in the list of features, but does mention it in the text of the write up, but that also mentions heated seats and steering wheel.

The brochure is a bit of a mess, it's difficult to be certain what the car has.

Sadly your dealer trying to fix something is no indication they know what they're doing.

I have a zs EV when I was buying all the blurb said it would have the full sunroof .
When it arrived there was no sunroof Apparently MG had stopped fitting them and when I looked again at website it had all been updated.
Quite miffed but the boss said she preferred it without.
No point in arguing is there.

I think a lot of it is down to training most Techs are mechanic's not S/W engineers

Well I collected my car last week after being with the dealer for 20 days, I returned the free hire car they gave me. Seems incredible that the dealer was not aware of the specifications of my MG4 model and spent all this time on it.
After hours of research it turns out my car (Ireland) does not have speech recognition!! Although it is not completely clear.
