Sport mode WOW !

I too only drive in eco mode ( ZS gen 1).
We had an instance a few weeks back where a tractor was driving on the road in front of us. We stayed back hoping he would turn off into a farm soon, but after a kilometre or so we decide to overtake. Planting my foot on the accelerator put the car into sports mode and both of us though we were in a Star Trek movie. Warp speed was amazing.

It's a crazy power level and unfortunately there will be a lot of accidents with inexperienced drivers. There will need to be controls put in place to control the power. I've tried it once and it's absolutely crazy, like driving a bomb.

Yep , you're right there
My MG5 was crazy in sports mode , the MGS5 is insane

I think that there is something wrong with mine.

I mean, it's reasonably sparkly acceleration, but only about the same as my Audi turbo diesel. It's not like a bike, for example.

Trophy. But the motor's the same, right?
Sorry wrong question. Should have been SR or Trophy/LR
The LR and the Trophy have the same battery and motor.

It's not just sport mode, I met an old chap at a charger once in a KIA Soul ev with the passenger side all caved in. He'd had the car two days and drove it into his garden wall trying to go shopping.

I've dabbled with sports mode a little just to test it out, it is astonishing how much instant torque there is. Because it's literally been wet road since I got mine; I am looking forward to the warmer weather when it doesn't feel so absolutely mad to plant my foot to the floor in these conditions. I recently found out the back can slip out a little on drain covers under acceleration and when icy, it made me think sport mode and wet roads it's really (for me at least) a no no. 😆

Yes, you'll see a big difference when it's warm and dry. (y)

I actually never thought about the difference in drive mode. I always have it in normal mode and do get that split second of delay at the throttle the moment trying to take off especially at the light. This is one of the criticism of this car comparing to a MG4EV in particular by many others. I normally had the pedal depress a little heavier to alleviate this minor mis-behaviour if you can call it that. Wondering if the sport mode can overcome this behaviour? But then again I would value the car's power consumption more somewhat 🙂

Never driven a 4, but sport mode is instant compared to normal. I too value the minor delay in normal mode, as you say just press harder. Sport mode is aggressive in my opinion (it's sport mode 😆). Makes me wonder what a x power must be like!

Others have made the point, it's such a lot of power for everyday use! Not knowing how to handle it is asking for trouble. I used to ride sports bikes and just having that power was tempting, always on the boil!

These days I value the blend of power MG have baked into the S5 in normal.

I'm with you on this. I still keep my ICE turbo car and take it out every now and then. Still enjoy that roar of the motor couple with the turbo swoosh between gears. But the MGS5EV just as swift with that linear power delivery that up to speed without one noticing😀
