Steering wheel phone button.

I think I may have seen this is another thread but can't find it using search.
2020 Gen 1 ZS. Am I right in thinking the phone button on the steering wheel only works with Android auto ?
I seems a bit bit daft that I have to reach over and press the phone symbol on the info screen to make a call when there's a button on the steering wheel.

On My MG5 if you are connected with BT you have to use the screen but you can stop the call with the phone button.
If wired in then use the speech button.
