I cannot find in the manual any reference to the switches/buttons on the console marked (P) and alongside it (A) - does anyone know what they do? Thanks in advance for any responses.

If you search 'Auto hold' on the forum here there's some good explanation. I don't use Auto hold but some find it useful.

The "P" button will prime the ejector seat, and the "A" button means it is armed and ready to eject a person when pressed.

First put it in D for Drive, get it up to speed and then change into R for Racing to get more power.

Nowadays cars are clever enough, that they will not let people do silly stuff like this.

Largely true! Although it does say in my handbook to make sure the vehicle has stopped before engaging reverse gear. Wouldn't like to test it.

No I'm not going to volunteer to test it either.

Have you tried pressing the "start" button on the car before it has stopped completely, i once did that in the driveway, while coasting at about 1-2 mph....Apparantly pressing the start button to "stop" makes the car engage the parking brake quite quickly.

Only did that once.
