Tomato Energy

I've installed the myWatts iOS app and I can see my usage there. ✌️
Not sure what they did to bork the browser experience (I prefer seeing my usage on a large screen).

I suppose I should be grateful for timely bills (at very good rates) and a way to see my usage. :)

Still - since getting my British passport I'm finding I'm more inclined to complain about stuff...

Discount 50% only for first bill, now its <15% and will be nothing from last few months by looks.
If they were my supplier, I think I would feel happy that they had offered me a big discount.

I understand that as a company they have had issues, but if I had been using their energy continuously during that time, I'd expect to have to pay for that at some point, and would set funds aside in a savings account accordingly.

To get a 50% discount on that bill would be a bonus.

Taken from another forum posted today. Not sure how it affects.

'there is now secondary winding up petition this time against 'Senapt Limited' also by HMRC - Senapt provide the backend billing services including MyWatts see Caseboard Link. Also Ofgem have included them with other suppliers in an new investigation re smart metering see Ofgem Link

I just received my June bill - which I promptly paid. I'm quite happy with Tomato (from a customer perspective).

Sadly I'll need to move back to Octopus (Go + Export) because Scottish Power decided to halve the pennies they pay for my exported energy - from 12p/kWh to 6p/kWh (from the 2nd of August). :(
I wonder how long I'll need to spend on the standard variable tariff before they let me switch to the proper ones...

Funny how these companies can decide to screw you with very little notice...
Quote from the Scottish Power email:
Dear XXXXXX,

From 2nd August 2025, the rate we pay you for the electricity you export is changing from 12p per kWh to 6p per kWh. We’ll continue to pay you every 90 days for the electricity you export – the only difference is the new export rate. We’ve also upadated the terms and conditions on our website.

Has anyone "calculated" a better alternative?

Just received this notification from OFGEM. Unlikely my contract and non connection from Feb will be honoured now. Perhaps it's a good thing.👴

Not particularly wishing to resurrect this thread but...

I've just received three bills from Tomato, all Estimated, covering the period September 2024 to June 2025. The first, to January 25, has the 50% discount applied, the second from February to April 25 has the 15% discount and the final one, for May and June is "full price".

The total cost for those ten months is £458.20; using the prices my previous supplier was charging in 2024 - so not the "latest" prices - over those ten months, on a monthly DD, I would have paid £1006.00.

Even given they are "estimates", I really can't complain about the total cost!!!

Not quite as thrilled - they are shafting me by 100 percent estimating my energy usage for my first 6 months based on this usage template

Despite my actual Hugo Pro reported meter data usage report looking like this
1753823850156.webp

This is a heavy, cooler weather, days energy usage:
1753824505162.webp

This is more typical, and with 20kWh battery storage and lots of solar and an electric car I obviously follow this pattern for obvious reasons. For reasons unknown to me they have not used the data that is stored in my SMET2 meter at all, and say that I have two choices; Pay it all in one go or pay it off over 3 months.... Awesome outfit, I can see why you are so impressed. Seriously how could anyone who signs up to Tomato end up using energy the way that they have estimated my usage. I would have to be in an 8 bedroomed igloo in the arctic circle.
