Tyre size

Hi all,

New here. Just took ownership of a trophy hybrid plus, quite enjoying the drive so far. I tend to run all season tyres as i visit other places that may need 3 peak marking. I notice the 195 55r16 isnt very common. Both crossclimate and vector4 season offer this size but it’s quite abit more expensive than 205 55r16. (About 20quid more per corner, so fair a big percentage). Any one tried wider tyres? Can the front clear the wheel arch at max lock? (I am aware speedo will read a few % out because of slightly larger diameter). Thanks!

Yes, it would probably have to be 205/45 instead of 205/55 to be anywhere near.

thanks! 4.1% is indeed abit much. Normally 2-3% is ok. Although, i didnt quite get the speedo readout why it is slower with larger diameter. Normally speedometer counts revolutions then multiply with a pre-set diameter, so i would expect when speedometer read 30mph the car is actually going,say, 31.5 or something. I. E get a ticket when speedometer misread out at 30mph.
