Hello All, I've had an MG4 since 2022 and will be buying a replacement and returning the existing one to the finance company.

When taking a used MG4 for a test drive from a non MG dealer, I'd like to ensure the telematics unit works. If the car is still bound to the previous owner, how can it be unbound for the test drive? I've read so many problems in this forum and wondered if there was a simple fix for this? Thank you.

Short answer is - there isn't a quick way if the car is still linked to the old driver. I was in this situation a couple of weeks ago when I did the same thing. The car looked like it had been reset but when I tried to bind it came up with the usual message that they would contact previous owner and you wait 72 hours. In my case this actually happened the next day so guess the prior owner replied. Funnily enough I havent been asked to unbind my old car yet which was collected a month ago - but then it looks like it hasnt been resold as the tax is still valid.
