Undecided on the XPOWER

It's all basically been said but if this helps; I have a Jaguar F-Pace fully loaded HSE, brand new this Jan sat on the drive & that's where it stays, as I always pick up the keys to the x-power.

Comfy & refined as the Jag is, I forget about the MG's minor squeaks, rattles & tech that feels like the Lidl knock-off of an ipad (works, but you can tell it's half the price), as soon as I put my foot down.

When someone lets you out of a side road, you're off and up to speed by the time the diesel F-Pace would still have been deciding which gear to pull away in.

Still like having a big diesel for holiday trips but you can see the end is near for them.

If there's one thing I wish I could transplant into the MG, it would be the Jag's magic button on the steering wheel that sets all the driver assistance systems to your saved profile. Set it up once and then a double press when you get in the car turns off anything you don't like. Would have loved the Jag in matt racing green though...

Yes that's the dream @ukandy24, and welcome to MGEVs. (y)

Hello and welcome.

It's all about expectations. You've mentioned that you're used to bulletproof and luxury Japanese cars - this is not.

I like to compare the Xpower to Poco devices in smartphone world. If you're used to having £1k+ Samsung or iPhones and you expect such phone you will be disappointed. But if you're like me and want excellent battery life and great performance for 300 quid - you'll love it.

Same with this Xpower - the car is heavily compromised, my 24 plate I got 3 months ago is far from perfect. Some things are even worse than our last 66 plate Vauxhall Astra.

Do I regret buying it? No, because I wanted a cheap to run hot-hatch that can smoke any BMW or Golf R, I knew this car was going to be quite basic, so I'm not disappointed in the slightest. But if you want great kit, high quality interior and amazing range - go somewhere else 👍
You've hit the nail on the head with that analogy

Just as an update, I decided to commit and go for it. Hunter green xpower getting collected next weekend.
Nice one, congrats buddy!
Just be careful with your alloys - this car is wider than average and I find curbing them way too easy lol
Also you have to put your wipers in service mode before you lift them, otherwise you'll scratch your bonnet like some of us did 😅
