My almost 1 year old MG4 did a full on emergency stop the other day. There was a pedestrian walking on the pavement and I assume the car "thought" I was going to hit the person but there was no risk at all! The stop was so severe that had there been a car behind me they would probably have crashed into me!
I often find the car slows suddenly when there is a car on the other side of the road which is annoying but not dangerous, but this is the first time I have had a full on emergency stop!
Has anyone else experienced this?

I had this yesterday for the first time. My MG4 Trophy ER is about seven months old. I was in a narrow road with parked cars and after waiting for a car to go past the other way pulled out to pass a parked car. The car slammed the brakes on and started beeping. The car behind nearly went into the back of me. I have now added this to my list of features to switch off when I start a journey. I also don't use ACC unless on motorway, as I have had the car brake dramatically on ordinary roads when it detects a vehicle coming the other way that it thinks I am going to hit. This also results in the driver of the car behind getting a shock.

I didn't have a stop, but my car flashed up a forward collision warning when it saw a person walking on the pavement next to the road. It's happened a few times, usually when I'm driving next to parked cars. Not sure if there's anything I can do

It seems to be way too sensitive! I'm hoping they will do a software update when I take it for 1 year service which might sort it out.
I don't want to turn it off as potentially it could save my life one day!

I've turned all the annoyances down to their minimum sensitivity and still get warnings pop up occasionally for no reason that I can see. Honestly, I think that all this interfering automation is making driving more dangerous, not less.

Agreed . It takes my attention off the road, which is never a good thing.

My car has only done an emergency stop twice in 2 1/2 years and that was because it thought I hadn't seen a parked car.

These are the settings I use and they remain selected next time I start the car.
