Not an MG
Hello,
I have an offer to buy a 2022 MG5 61kwh Luxury (light/gray leather upholstery), with 57,000 miles, priced at €10,700 (£9,200).
Unfortunately, there's no warranty because the dealership service appointment hasn't been met.

1) Is this a good offer?
2) What maintenance/expenses will I expect at this mileage?
3) Is the lack of a warranty a significant factor in this car?
4) Maybe it's better to find one with less equipment, and a smaller battery for similar price, but with a 2-3 years of valid warranty?

I'm currently driving a 2014 Leaf, but I want a bit more range. I looked at the MG because its not-expensive, has good reviews, and comes with a 7-year warranty – so even with a used MZ4/5/ZS, I have a few years of peace of mind. This convinced me to buy the MG, and now it seems I'm lowering my standards and I'm tempted to buy the MG even without a warranty... isn't that a mistake?

I'd be grateful if you could share your opinions...

Hi @szkoder, welcome to MGEVs, if one of your reasons for buying an MG is the warranty, you probably shouldn't buy one without any warranty, so maybe continue looking.

At 57k miles you'd really want the warranty, having said that the one I drive passed 100k miles and is in excellent condition, it's been serviced per schedule mind you.

Service wise at least before buying you'd want to get the brakes and suspension checked, see the battery state of health. My first standard range could do 220 in summer but less than 150 if the temperature went below zero. The current long range model is better but not massively.

Look carefully at the MG Warranty. After 3 years old it covers very little anyway (unlike the Hyundai and Kia 5 and 7 year warranties).
This is the UK warranty conditions, see page 3 for exceptions/limited time cover. Check the Polish warranty.
Personally I would say that more than 3 years old, just check the battery state of health and if that's good then don't worry about anything else.

As pointed out above by Gomev the warranty of 7 years on MG cars is very limited so a battery state of heath report and a general check around the rest of the car if it is as it should be it looks a bit of a steal for a facelifted MG5

My MG5 is the first car I've ever bought with a warranty other than the standard dealer 6 months.
As far as I know MG5's are as reliable as any ICE car and probably even more reliable so you'd be unlucky to have a problem.
Maybe try to beat them down a bit more because no warranty.

I wouldn't rule it out but I'd use the lack of warranty to negotiate a better price.

The fact the manufacturer was willing to give the warranty is a bit of reassurance that MG/SAIC thought that the parts would last that long.

That isn't a huge milage for such a large battery so I wouldn't worry too much about that side of things.

The rival is the Kia E-Niro so go for whichever is cheaper.

Good luck!
