Voice Control(?)

Has anyone mastered Voice Control on the IM5?
I've tried calling contacts in my phonebook, but the Voice control tells me they don't exist, even though I've just manually called the same contact.
My wife pointed out that the KIA software downloaded the Contact List to the car and it was easy, but it's awfully frustrating when a newer car can't do what an older one can. I'm hoping that this is just an issue with Android Auto. If anyone has had success, has it been with Android Auto or Apple Car Play?
Also, are there any other Voice Control key phrases that do actually work?

Nope. Tried for a long time and gave ups with android auto. The voice assistant is good at getting all the car-related commands right but anything else and it's like speaking to a toddler. Tell your wife she can say "turn on seat heating" from whichever seat she's in and the car will only turn on heating for her seat. Same for opening windows. Bet the old Kia couldn't do that.

If you use Carplay (and I expect Android auto) the phone does not connect to Bluetooth so your contacts are not downloaded to the car. If you disconnect CP or AA then connect to bluetooth the contacts are downloaded and IM can make the calls. However, if you reconnect CP/AA the contacts are removed again. More importantly if you are connected to CP a long press of the right hand wheel activates SIRI and you can make all you calls like that. I guess AA is the same but never used it.

Yep. I can confirm I always long press the right wheel to activate Google assistant and ask her to make the call.
