Hi all,

Did anyone have this problem? I've found a fair bit of water in the boot, where the spare wheel normally would be placed. See photos.

Found exactly the same in the wife's fiesta on the weekend funnily enough, still waiting to confirm but think I've traced it to a dodgy seal around the rear light cluster. May be worth a check there?

I recently changed a neighbours wheel on their car as they had hit a pothole and their wheel was buckled, but the boot was very wet as well. I found the spare wheel fixing anchor had rusted and was letting water through, so if that is not plugged it'll let water in.

This happened on my old ICE, turns out the pipe to the rear windscreen washer had popped off and every time I squirted my rear windscreen the water was just going into the spare tyre well. Is your rear squirter working as normal?

I'd start by putting a bolt in the hole for the spare wheel hold down bolt.
If that doesn't cure it put some talcum powder all around the hatch rubber seals and possibly the rear door seals. The talc will show where the water is coming in if it's a leaky seal

I wouldn't want to start messing with it. I think you would want to get that straight to a dealer to solve, even if it's a simple fix, if for no other reason to get what looks like rust presumably caused by the water, properly sorted, before it becomes a major problem. (little spots in the first and third photos).
