What’s the very first CD you bought / got?

Bet you used to make a mix tape for that special someone didn’t ya?
Yep! 🥰

Nahh, just an ordinary audio cassette tape. :)
I've just joined & I see that you're a Moderator.
A couple of weeks ago I PX'd my trusty 2019 Ford for a brand new 2026 HS PHEV.
It's a toe dipping experiment into the world of EV's & I'll freely admit it feels extremely odd. It goes like sh!t off a chrome plated shovel & in total silence! 😳

Is there not a section to introduce yourself?
And is there a HS PHEV section for questions/answers?
As I have plenty of questions to ask. As well as potentially useful info reference the issues I had with error messages when trying to use my 12yr old USB flash drive. Full of a lifetime of my music. It drove me mad, but I eventually solved it with help from a far more techy mate.

Yes to both, but for some reason they're hard to find, I've been here 2 years now and still finding my way around.
Top left hand corner is your best bet.

Yes, there is a thread pinned at the top of the page this thread is on (General Chat) for people to say hello. And yes there is a section devoted to your particular car. If you go to the main index page of the forum and find the subforum for hybrids, you'll be able to navigate to it.

Cheers mate, but these are the only options that I see when I click on the top left hand corner 🤔

Thank you Rolfe, I've chipped in to the newbie section mate. But I still can't find the HS PHEV section? 🤔

Actually click on "Forums" (main part, not the drop-down arrow) to take you to an index page with all the forums and subforums.

The spelling is very variable. It's spelled kena in the massive textbook of world musical instruments our musical director has. (He's an expert in the acoustics of musical instruments, but he at first didn't believe me when I said the instrument was pre-Columban.) I think the u is a concession to English speakers.
You are obviously very musical and I'm jealous, wish I could play an instrument!
I love all sorts of music, but I'm tone deaf and have no understanding of music structure. there's no way I could pick the difference between 440hz and 415hz if they aren't played one after the other.
Even though, in the main, I prefer baroque over classical.
Your director does surprise me, traditional South American Indian instruments don't have any European influence.

...

I do prefer the Disturbed version of Sound of Silence though, Simon & Garfunkel never had the power the song deserved

T1 Terry

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Far too angry in the 'power' parts and stilted in the rest. The song is about frustration at the inability to communicate and the original for me puts that over better without coming across shouty and angry. I'm certainly not against covers, there are some great ones out there, better than originals but for not Disturbed in this case with.
I'm glad people have different tastes, makes everything more interesting :)

I'll throw in a cover of The Rolling Stones Ruby Tuesday by Melanie that I think is way better than the original. A bit of power in that version.

I think they do now. I looked at some pre-Columbian instruments in a museum and compared them to my own modern qenas, and there is clear evidence of influence of the recorder on the latter, mainly in the variable sizing of the tone holes.

415 Hz is just a semitone down from 440 Hz. You might not notice if you're not very familiar with the piece. I did feel quite disorientated singing at 415 Hz though, because my voice knew it wasn't singing a top A and was giving me all sorts of "you're flat!" feedback.

Following on from the Sounds of Silence chat this just popped into my Youtube sphere. Everyone is singing it angry. :D

Arrrh , the lovely cassette tape , where you would sit on a Sunday evening selectively recording the Chart show on Radio 1 to replay on a portable player in your mates car on road trips to pubs you could get served pre eighteenth birthday.
I recorded the Clash , London Calling and with four of us arguing over the lyrics in a Austin Maxi , I pressed the rewind button to replay the contested section . In the dark I also accidentally pressed the record button so now we have Joe Strummer belting out his vocals and then my weedy voice overlaying it saying " No , its Tommy gun " saved for national prosperity, Still unsure of the actual wording but it spliced into the song with an uncanny accuracy.

From Laskys or Tandy, though? - that is the (mid-1970's) question.

I had one of these from Laskys with 'Dolby' and an audio input socket :)

I know what my first cassette was - "Killers" by Iron Maiden.

I think I've narrowed down my first CD to one of Alannah Myles' eponymous debut, Roxette's "Look Sharp!", or possibly T'Pau's "Bridge of Spies", though I suspect I bought that later. There are quite a few other late 80s CDs in my collection but I think most of them replaced earlier tapes or vinyl.

My Spotify playlist keeps on growing. :)

Well worked out ...... it was from Tandy, It might even have had an inline capability for recording but the radio didn't . I had to record from the microphone and stay quite , some tunes also have my Mum in the background crashing pots and pans together as she put them away in the next door kitchen. Tandy also made a fortune in replacement D batteries.
