What to watch out for in 2nd-hand ZS EV?

Hi - I am (I hope) about to become the proud owner of a 2nd-hand MG ZS EV. Will be looking at it during the week - is there anything I should watch out for in a used model? It's an Exclusive, with just over 3k on the clock.

if over a year old check that service has been carried out to maintain warranty conditions. Check that when fully charged the voltage is 449v or 456v to know that you do not have bad BMS version. Enjoy the car.

Thanks for that - it's 21 plate so less than a year. Where do I look for the voltage? And if it's the 'bad' BMS, how easy is it to update?

Please excuse the newbie questions, hopefully my knowledge will increase over time.

Bad BMS has to be sorted by a dealer update. Depending on how far out of spec it's got, it can take a long time to sort.

Voltage is on the main display. Cycle through the options using the arrows on the rhs of the steering wheel.

Check the steering wheel is not knocking, either from lock to lock or tugging on it side to side.
Check for rattles inside, the A-pillars and the sunroof are the main culprits (open the sunroof to test).
Ask for a type 2 cable if there isn't one, it doesn't come with the car as standard.
Check that the puncture repair kit has not been used, or better still ask if they'll chuck in a spare wheel with the deal.

I have a type 2 cable available & a spare wheel kit. I wonder why? ?

Useful suggestions, thanks. On the 'knocking' steering wheel, are you talking about turning it while driving or stationary?

SHOULD - Being the operative word !,
Although I agree, assumption is the killer of all.
Grab the registration number and ring a GOOD helpful dealer and ask them if they have any history / issue / warranty work recorded against this car.
Okay …… I will ask the question ??‍.
What other model / make was the ZS EV traded in for, what’s the back story ?.
Not a preregistration / demo car, otherwise it would have come through a MG dealer.
Unusual for an almost new car, with 3,000 miles on the clock to get traded in ????.
You would have to be pretty unpleased with the car, to let it go THAT quickly surely ?..

I don't have the numberplate yet, on the other hand I've just looked at a couple of EV sites, which each have a number of ZSs with 2-4k miles on them. I guess there are people who decide, for whatever reason, that the car's not for them - I see there are a couple who have said goodbye on the forum.

Hire car. MG or dealer staff perk car registered & moved on quickly to increase “sales” volumes and also create a supply of decent “used” cars. I used to work for GM & had a new car every few months, with the used cars ending up on dealer forecourts. Vauxhall used to have many hundred of this class of car on the system at any time & all the brands do it.

All very good advice, but a dealer will usually only release service info on proof of ownership.

Turning full lock left to right or vice versa whilst driving and/or tugging on it side to side while stationary.

Also pull the wheel up and down thoroughly, floor to ceiling, that's where my play was, due to a loose steering column.
