What you having for your Tea/Dinner, tonight. ?

Had a tasty lunch today. Eggs courtesy of my youngest who has come home from Uni. They were very old, so I stuck them in the washing up bowl full of water.

Those that floated, I threw in the green bin.

Then I got a load of overripe toms from Aldi, Specially Selected, no less, and fried them in butter, threw in the beaten eggs, a bit of salt and black pepper and some sourdough. Nom, as someone said earlier in the thread!

I normally go shopping to Aldi at night with Mrs S. The shelves are practically bare.

This time, dear old Ma took me in her trusty Yeti.

I got loads of stuff 75% off, salad, eggs, even a whole chicken which I roasted the next day. Ma showed me a trick I never even noticed. The supermarkets sell their chickens in sizes, Small, Medium, Large, etc....

Each size has a weight range and they are all the same price, so when you shop, look for the heaviest.

The eggs even had a week left on the date. They were knocked down because the display until date had been reached.

Upshot is, I think I'm going to go shopping to Aldi during the day more often!

Doncha just love it when chickens go cheap 🐣🤩

After spending 2 hrs going from shop to shop to find all the items on the shopping list, I'll stick to shopping after lunch. 5 different shops in 2 different shopping centres and got all but 1 item on the list, no snow peas .....
What ever is being cooked for dinner tonight will be wonderful, after that marathon effort in the belting rain and gusting winds, burnt toasts will taste good  The 51 did it's job without a worry, there were a lot of dead cars on the side of the road that didn't seem to enjoy surfing through the lakes ..... started raining last night around 8:30 and hasn't eased up since ...... I no longer miss living in the Illawarra area on the Australian East Coast ...... 7 yrs of climate change has really had an effect on the weather pattern ..... see it on the news, but it doesn't really sink in until you are camped up in a motorhome in the middle of it ....

I went down the garden yesterday and pruned the straggling branches off my plumb tree to allow the sun to reach and ripen the fruit.
I removed a handful of plums that were looking almost ripe and set them on the window sill to catch the early rays this morning.
So for breakfast I had a bowl of strawberries from Perthshire and that single almost ripe plum. It was delicious with the whole lot doused with rhubarb yogurt.

You had me, until the Rhubarb yogurt, came out. 🤢😉🙂👍

Gooseberry yog. is a fave of mine, but you don't see it often. And hazelnut. But my all time fave has to be raspberry and there's plenty of those gorgeous beasties North of the border!

As for dinner, last night, I did a chicken curry from scratch. Turned out one lad decided to fly out to Ibiza, and Mrs S wanted a salad (and I'm veggie), so there was only one lad who wanted it! The third is in Notts.

Tonight, I'm doing a roast chicken meal. It might seem wrong to some, but I do it with Yorkshire. As well as roasties, two veg, maybe a cauli cheese, stuffing, bread sauce and gravy made with juices from the bird.

The stuffing is something I got from my Gran. She didn't like the usual preparation which is either done in a tray or in balls which are then baked. She said it was dry and tasteless and she didn't like it stuffed into the bird either.

She used to make up the mix into balls, flatten them and then fry them in butter.
