What you having for your Tea/Dinner, tonight. ?

Never heard of that....

I was a great fan of many school puddings. Some that were really hated by others meant I got seconds!!

And yes, Ian, I'm really weird! The best bit of the custard is the rubbery skin!

Even now I love peeling off the skin of a fresh custard and draping it over one of my home made apple crumbles (with apples from our tree and crumble made with pure butter.
I'm 11 all over again!
You can't beat it!

I’m gonna make scones later I think.
Plain , fruit, treacle or cheese ?
I want to try them in the air fryer which is the smallest I could find at 150mm / 6” diameter. I’m fancying one full size scone to divide into four rather than wee individual skitters o’ things as my Granny might have called tiny round ones.
What’s the best scone ?

My fave is fruit but my middle lad dislikes sultanas, so I make plain.
I’m edging towards the fruit but my tin of treacle is about a month past its date so if I don’t use it I might be forced to spread a bit on whichever flavour is chosen (even if it’s the cheese 🙄)

OK so if it looks like a scone and definitely tastes like a scone, who cares if it looks like a duck 🤩

All scones are awful dry stodge, like eating dry cream crackers. Not had one anywhere that was half decent.
But I don't like any dry food. :)

On Saturday I cycled up to what I thought was a ruined 13th century castle to do some sightseeing. Turned out to have been restored as a boutique hotel and "dining experience". Well.

That stuff in the round corral is bone marrow crumble, and it was delicious.

That’s really roughing it 😂

Well, I went in and asked if they served non-residents, just looking for afternoon coffee. While I was consuming that with a rather nice coffee tartlet with strawberries, the receptionist started talking about dinner. She was favouring the following day, but I had seen the weather forecast and thought I'd be making my way home the next day. So she managed to squeeze me in for the same evening.

It did look like the sort of place where if you have to ask the price you can't afford it, but the trip had been close to free up to that point so I decided to go for it.

When I left the restaurant it was raining, and I had to get set up for the night in the car in the rain (I had driven back to the restaurant in the evening, in the closest to glad rags I could muster, and of course had had to put the front light fuses back) but I didn't care by that point.

Well that meal would certainly keep you from starvation. But it’s hardly the fine dining experience you get with a plug in your car, your own water supply and a pot noodle with a pack of beef jerky on the side and all served in your room 🤣
