Not sure what I'm having for Christmas tea yet, it depends on the size of the portions for lunch. But I do know breakfast will be bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast with a cup of builders.

Its -2c here at the moment , so I am just roasting my nuts in front of the open door of the log burner trying to fight off the sniffy noses of the dogs whose interest has been awakened by the unusual morning routine.

I do the one big one with maybe a salad later and a cheese board. Gotta have some Stilton!

I'm not a huge fan of Xmas pud, but I do like a mince pie.

Sat on the front deck of our friends houseboat. A boneless ham roll, jar of gherkin's, round of Bri, tomatoes off the vine, 1kg block of Bega Vintage Tasty cheese ..... and a big kitchen knife ..... consumed 4 light beers, designated driver and my head was near ready to exploding before we even started, so more alcohol was not going to help ..... wife and our friend Brian, who owns the houseboat, polished off 2 bottles of red wine between them ..... and a most enjoyable afternoon chatting, then we consumed his box of Cadburys Roses chocolates someone in the Marina gave him for Christmas

Had a ham and mustard sandwich followed by Comte and Cheddar cheeses with Ritz crackers after an expensive but disappointing lunch.

SPOILER ALERT:
Major moan ahead.

First time ever I went with my brother and his misses to the New Bath Hotel in Matlock for Christmas lunch. The lettuce in the prawn cocktail was limper than Larry Grayson. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding was from Aunt Bessie's, the roasted root vegetables consisted of two carrot sticks, the pigs in blankets was one pig in a blanket and the smallest piece of hard stuffing imaginable with two pieces of turkey. All served lukewarm. This was followed by a thin slice of Bakewell tart which was supposed to come with coconut ice cream but didn't. All this for £85!

Next year it'll be a ready meal from Sainsbury's.

A few Christmases back, I bought a Turducken as a special treat to replace the forced meat chicken I had been making each yr.

It was the oiliest/fattest thing I've ever eaten ..... everyone had at least 1 slice, just so they knew to never be tempted to buy one themselves

Over the next week, all the left over meats, except for the Turducken, had been consumed on sandwiches, being the brave garbage guts I am, I decided to cut a slice and eat it to reinforce memory .... the juices had turned to jelly between the layers and the fat drained out and set in the dish, it was great ..... didn't mention it to anyone else so it would all be for me The next Christmas, while doing the food shopping, the wife forbade me from ever buying another one .....

Too right.

I live on my own and usually go to my brothers for lunch with my two nieces but this year they both went abroad for Christmas and my brother didn't want to cook lunch just for the three of us.

I'm doing well for Christmas meals this year as the previous Friday a group of us went to a local pub for a meal and my mate knocked his full pint of beer over me before the main course had arrived. We had already been waiting for over an hour and that was the final straw so I left. I wasn't going to sit soaking wet stinking of stale beer.
