Ahh well, we were going to have something from the menu of our local Italian restaurant tonight, just order online and go and collect it, because the Mrs had a £20 voucher that she won at Bingo at Christmas, but she can't find the voucher, so we're having chicken n chips out of the freezer.

What brand do you buy?

usually loose from my local health food shop but I’ve even used Tesco or similar. When I visit my Granddaughter in San Diego she acts as my satnav and takes me to Trader Joe’s where we get loose steel cut oats from a barrel and it’s exactly the same.
The only thing I’d insist on is to cook it in the time honoured method as used by the clansmen of old - in a microwave

OK, follow up post, the Chicken and Chips, although very basic, was lovely and tasty with Southern Fried Chicken Strips.


And the Italian restaurant voucher has been found, turns out it's only a tenner, not £20 as we thought, but still, it's Italian next Saturday.

A nice tasty crockpot, slow cooked vegetables, and a touch of spice from chicken tikka, and some nice toasted sub roll. Delicious.
