Hi
I bought a 2nd hand MG SV electric a month ago. There were no cables supplied. After a lot of pleading I got the home charger. But while outside I needed to charge but I need the charge cable for service stations. Seems most charge points don’t have charge cables.
I was told by the sales guy - who I dealt with originally- that to reduce costs MG don’t supply any cables I was told ‘buy on eBay’. How cheap !!
Very rubbish service I’m afraid. Why don’t MG supply as standard.

The salesman is correct unfortunately.
Simple, penny pinching. Personally think they should supply a Granny Charger as standard. They used to. At least that would get you up and running. 🙂👍

Oh and,

Well my zs ev i bought new this Jan came with both the cable and the granny charger.

I suspect buying secondhand they were removed to sell off on ebay etc

AC public EVSE’s (chargers) require a type 2 cable, but DC EVSE’s always have a tethered cable, which is a much thicker, heavier cable to cope with the increased kw delivery. Much depends on how you plan to charge your car as to whether you need a type 2 cable.

My home EVSE has a tethered cable, and I very infrequently need to charge elsewhere. If I do, I will look for DC charging, as it’s so much quicker. In over 2 years of ownership, I have only used my type 2 cable once.

@simon Quinn - just to add, MG’s certainly used to come with a ‘granny’ charging cable. This is the one with a 3 pin plug on the end, but will take quite some time to fully charge your battery. This charging cable should be located under the boot floor, along with a jack, tools and tyre inflating gunk in a moulded polystyrene holder.
